Protect the apes and wildlife in Democratic Republic of Congo

The main objective of this project is to fight the extinction of the great apes in the province of Kongo Central by the construction of infrastructures aiming to strengthen the actions of conservation in cooperation with the local communities.

Hunting and poaching being two very common subsistence activities in DRC, this project plans the construction of a care and rehabilitation center for chimpanzees and other ape species impacted by these human activities. The center will also provide training and numerous jobs in the field of ecology and wildlife conservation. Housing will be built near the center to accommodate future staff members, as well as a clean water reservoir for the center and the local communities in the area.

Finally, the following step after this first mission will be the construction of a school welcoming students of any age and providing a basic education and ecology classes. Combined with the care center and the other infrastructures, this initiative provides the proper ground for the emergence of an eco-friendly local economy with new opportunities for the community, whilst contributing to the protection of the great apes.
